When I first heard the Caleb Campbell story on ESPN, I thought to myself “Well he signed up for the Army, he knew what he was getting himself into”…but after reading some articles and listening to some sports radio (namely Scott Ferrell on Sirius)…My opinion has been changed…It is a real travesty the way the Army handled this situation…Here is, by all accounts, an unbelievably gifted student and athlete, who never said “Let me out of my Army contract”…The Army came to him and said if you get drafted into the NFL and make the team we will let you fulfill your commitment in the offseason by acting as a recruiter…What a great asset that would be for our military, a pro football player praising the U.S Army and encouraging other young men to serve their country…Except the day before training camp the Army changed their minds…Sorry Caleb, no football for you…It is a time of war and your country needs you…But where?…On the front lines in Iraq? Leading a group of rangers in Afghanistan?…No, we need you as a graduate assistant on the West Point football team… “He knew what he was getting into”…and what was that exactly?…A military that lies to the very people that make it function on a daily basis?…A Military that changes the rules of the game when it doesn’t fit their game plan?…How have we, as an American people, allowed ourselves to let the poor treatment of our most important asset, our soldiers, go on like this?…Simply saying “That is the Army for ya” just isn’t good enough anymore…If they never had any intentions of letting him play, why make the promise?…I support our troops, and feel great remorse for those who have lost their lives in a war that was propagated on a lie…Bring them home…and let him play.

This was as close to a perfect movie as you can get…A few minor complaints, the running time for one, I am not sure it needed to be 2 1/2 hours long…I agree that of the Batman villains Harvey two face is the weakest, but they could have worked him in the next movie’s plot; rather than adding an extra 45 minutes to this one…#2 Maggie Gyllenhall was a casting mistake as the love interest of Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent. She is a good looking girl, semi-decent actress…but there is a reason she gets killed off…Other than that…I was completely blown away, Heath Ledger was nothing short of amazing, forget Brokeback Mountain - this was his magnum opus…The Action scenes were just that, action – big, real big… and loud, but yet believable, there was no point when I said “Now come on”…No swinging from vines to catch up with run-a-way jeeps (see Indiana Jones review)…I will definitely go see this movie at least once, if not two more times… I am going to give The Dark Knight the first Five Horseshoe Mustache rating…It was that good…
