Although to this day I can’t swing a bat to save my life, in hindsight I don’t think it is really my fault…You could say that the little league coaches I had growing up weren’t exactly Tommy Lasorda or Joe Torre. With the exception of one year of t-ball, I got started in little league late in life, they called it “The American League” and my coach noticed early I wasn’t exactly an offensive threat or fielding phenom…I found myself playing right field allot (not to many left handed batters around to hit it to me). So one day he took me aside, I assumed to help mold me into a future 40/40 threat, instead I got… “Mackey, you can’t hit worth shit, when you get up there don’t swing, if it (the ball) gets close to you, just lean in a little and take one for the team”… I reluctantly made it through that season contemplating life in right field and trying to get hit by pitches… It was than onto the “National League”… Unfortunately things didn’t get much better. ~ As a quick side note, my coach in the National league was also my middle school principal (just my luck!)… Before the season he got on the PA system at school one day and gave us a ten minute speech on how you should never give up, never quit, no matter what we were doing… Man was I inspired!(insert sarcastic cough here) ~ So anyway, that summer when my team (the Astros) was getting our asses kicked by like 17 runs; imagine my confusion when this same man walked out onto the field in the middle of the game, threw down his hat in anger and said “that’s it! We quit!” and pulled us off the field (us being the guys that were actually out there playing, I was riding the bench). Not exactly the role model needed to form a future Hall of Fame right fielder. Needless to say, it was my last season in uniform, I was on to bigger and better things, after all I think I got my first Nintendo that year, but I digress. Ever Since then I would say that for my money, there is nothing better than some good seats at a Major League Baseball game…But enough about my short lived baseball career…That whole story just to get my baseball picks?…Wow. So here are my picks for each division and the wild cards…
